Information we collect

Information you give us

When you use our contact or consultation form, email us or speak with us, you may give us:

  • Contact details: your name, email address and phone number.
  • Your property brief: the city or market you are interested in, property type, budget range and the service you are asking about.
  • Your message: anything you write in the free-text field or tell us by phone or email.
  • Engagement information: if you become a client, documents needed for the work, such as a mortgage pre-approval letter or a draft lease.

Please do not send Social Security numbers, bank or card account numbers, passwords or health information through the website or by email. We do not need them to answer an inquiry.

Information collected automatically

Our website is a static site with no user accounts, logins or payment pages. Like any website, it is delivered by a hosting provider whose servers automatically log standard technical information: your IP address, browser and device type, the page requested, the referring page, and the date and time. These logs are used for security and troubleshooting.

The property search box on our home page sends the location, property type and price range you select to our contact page as part of the web address (for example, /contact/?location=miami&type=apartment&budget=rent-1000-5000), so your selections carry over to the form. Because they appear in the address, they may also be recorded in your browser history and the hosting provider’s logs. They do not include your name or contact details.

Information from other sources

We may also receive information from professionals you ask to share it with us (such as your agent, lender or attorney), from people who refer you to us, and from public records we review during property research, such as county property records, permit records and listing history, which can include owners’ names.

How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • respond to your inquiry, arrange your free first consultation and prepare a written fee quote;
  • provide the consulting services you engage us for, including coordination with the professionals you choose;
  • contact you about your inquiry or engagement by email, phone or text message;
  • keep records for accounting, tax, legal and insurance purposes;
  • protect our website and systems, prevent fraud and improve our services;
  • comply with the law and enforce our terms.

We do not use your information for profiling or for decisions made solely by automated means. We will send marketing emails only if you ask for them, each with a way to unsubscribe, and we will not make marketing calls or send marketing texts without your prior express consent.

We use your information for four reasons: to answer your request, to perform our engagement agreement with you, for reasonable business needs such as security and record-keeping, and to meet legal obligations such as tax record rules.

For anything optional, such as marketing emails or sharing your details with a professional you have chosen, we ask for your consent first. You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing us.

If you contact us from outside the United States, your information will be processed in the United States.

How we share information

  • Service providers. We use a small number of providers for website hosting, form handling, email, cloud storage, scheduling and accounting. They may process personal information only on our behalf, under contracts that limit its use and require them to protect it.
  • Professionals you choose. With your consent or at your direction, we share relevant information with the professionals handling your transaction, such as your real estate agent or broker, lender, attorney, home inspector, title or escrow company or relocation provider. When we suggest professionals, we offer several options and you decide whom to use. We share only what the task requires.
  • Legal and safety reasons. We may disclose information when the law, a subpoena or a court order requires it, or to protect the rights, property or safety of our clients, ourselves or others.
  • Business changes. If our business is reorganized, merged or sold, personal information may pass to the new owner, which must handle it in line with this policy.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising (often called targeted advertising). We have not done either in the past 12 months, and we do not give personal information to other companies for their own marketing.

Cookies and similar technologies

Our website does not currently set analytics, advertising or social media cookies, and it does not use tracking pixels. Our fonts are hosted on our own website, so loading a page does not send your data to a font service. Our hosting provider may use strictly necessary cookies or similar technologies to deliver pages securely. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.

If we add analytics. If we later add an analytics tool to learn which pages are useful, we will first update this policy to name the provider and what it collects, ask for your consent where the law requires it, and give you a simple way to opt out.

Browser signals. We treat a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as a valid request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information linked to that browser. We do not track visitors across other websites, so “Do Not Track” signals make no difference to how the site works.

How long we keep information

  • Inquiries that do not lead to an engagement: kept long enough to respond and follow up, then deleted or de-identified, unless you ask us to stay in touch.
  • Client records: kept for the engagement and afterward for as long as reasonably needed for legal, tax, accounting, insurance and dispute-resolution purposes.
  • Server logs: kept by our hosting provider for a limited period under its standard settings.

How we protect information

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards: the website is served over encrypted HTTPS, access to client information is limited to people who need it, and our service providers must protect the data they handle for us. No system is completely secure, and ordinary email is not encrypted end to end, so ask us for a more secure option before sharing sensitive documents.

Real estate deals are a common target for email scams. We never hold client funds, so we will never send you wiring instructions for a deposit, earnest money or closing funds. If a message like that appears to come from us, do not send money; call your title company or closing attorney on a number you have checked independently. Your US state privacy rights

Rights you may have

Depending on where you live, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (the CCPA) and similar laws in states such as Colorado, Connecticut, Texas and Virginia may give you the right to:

  • Know and access the personal information we hold about you, where it came from, why we collected it and who we disclosed it to, and receive a copy in a portable format.
  • Delete personal information we collected from you, subject to legal exceptions such as records we must keep for tax purposes.
  • Correct inaccurate information.
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, targeted advertising and certain profiling. We do none of these, but you can still send a request.
  • Limit the use of sensitive personal information. We use it, for example financial documents shared during an engagement, only to provide the services you asked for.

Not every state law applies to every business, but we will honor these requests from any US resident as far as we reasonably can.

How to submit a request

Email hello@wealthstale.com with “Privacy request” in the subject line, or write to us at [MAILING ADDRESS]. Tell us what you are asking for and the email address or phone number you used with us.

  • Verification: we will match your request to details we already hold, usually by asking you to reply from the email address you used with us.
  • Authorized agents: someone else may make a request for you. We may ask for your signed permission and confirm your identity with you directly.
  • Timing: we will confirm receipt within 10 business days and respond within 45 days. If we need more time, as the law allows, we will tell you why.
  • Appeals: if we decline your request, we will explain why. You can appeal by replying with “Appeal” in the subject line, and we will respond within the time your state’s law requires. If you are still not satisfied, you can contact your state attorney general. California residents can learn more from the California Privacy Protection Agency.

We will not deny you services, charge you a different price or give you a different level of service because you exercised your privacy rights.

California notice of categories

In the past 12 months we have collected these categories of personal information, as the CCPA defines them: identifiers (name, email address, phone number, IP address); commercial information (markets, property types, budget range and services you are interested in); internet activity (pages requested and browser details in server logs); and professional information, only if you share it, for example when a job move prompts your relocation. We collect it from you, your device, professionals you involve and public records, for the purposes in “How we use your information,” and disclose it only to service providers and professionals you choose, for business purposes.

Children’s privacy

Our website and services are intended for adults and are not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and we do not sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Our website links to government agencies and other third-party sites for reference. Their privacy practices are their own, so read their policies before sharing information with them. Our Disclaimer says more about external links.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when our website, services or the law changes. We will post the new version here and change the “Last updated” date at the top. For a material change to how we use information already collected, we will give more prominent notice and ask for consent where the law requires it.
