How a Real Estate Consultant Differs From an Agent
The two roles complement each other. Here is how they typically differ, so you can decide what kind of help you need, and when.
| Aspect | Real estate consultant | Real estate agent or broker |
|---|---|---|
| Main role | Independent advice and analysis to support your decision | Represents you in the transaction: showings, offers and negotiation through closing |
| Typically paid by | A fixed or hourly fee agreed with you in advance | A commission set out in a written agreement, usually paid at closing |
| Licensing | Works alongside licensed professionals | Licensed by the state real estate commission |
| Best for | Deciding what, where, when and how much, with numbers behind it | Handling the transaction itself once you have decided |
Questions About Our Services
Still have a question?
Talk to a consultant or call +1 (555) 010-0199.
Do I still need a real estate agent if I hire a consultant?
Often, yes. A licensed agent or broker handles the transaction itself: showings, offers, negotiation and closing. A WealthTale.com consultant focuses on independent advice and analysis, and works alongside your agent, lender and attorney so you make each decision with the full picture.
How are your fees set?
Depending on the service, we offer fixed-fee reports, hourly advice or a scoped engagement. Whichever fits, your fee is agreed in writing before any work begins, and your first consultation is free.
Can I combine services?
Yes. Many clients combine services, for example relocation consulting with buyer consulting, or seller advisory with a pricing and market analysis. We scope the combination as one engagement.
Is your market analysis the same as an appraisal?
No. Our pricing and market analysis is market research to support your decision. It is not an appraisal and cannot be used for mortgage lending, which requires a licensed or certified appraiser.
